Acquisition Due Diligence – Private Equity Backed Operator

Overview

A UK-based operator requested RISC’s view of the subsurface geology, geophysics and reservoir engineering to support an acquisition bid for a small portfolio of producing fields.

Due to the short timeline for the bid, the report deadline was only 2 days after access to the data.

Our approach

RISC reviewed the data available and summarised the key concerns, uncertainties and upsides of the assets.

RISC identified that the reservoir underlying the producing field was a credible development target, but required further appraisal and testing, and would be several years from production.

Outcome

Although RISC identified issues that would potentially affect the life and revenue from these fields, there were no technical or commercial concerns where the client needed immediate resolution or guarantees from the operator selling the assets.

The client submitted a bid with confidence, based on RISC’s report.
