Martin Wilkes - Managing Partner | LNG Developments


Martin Wilkes

Martin has over 25 years’ experience in the international oil and gas industry encompassing upstream oil and gas, LNG and gas technology development with both large and small companies. His experience covers a wide range of roles including business leadership and planning, corporate governance, project development and management, technical training, commercial and contractual agreements, intellectual property management and environmental impact assessment. A creative thinker with strong analytical, influencing and communication skills, Martin’s main strengths include his ability to distil complex inputs and situations into simple ideas and plans.


Gavin Ward - Partner | General Manager UK


Gavin Ward
Gavin joined RISC with an economic, accounting and technical skill set from 29 years in the oil and gas industry at major operators and independents. He has peer reviewed and valued assets and companies in Europe, Middle East, Far East, Africa and North America. Gavin is author of many papers on risk and volume estimation and is able to translate technical evaluations into meaningful economic and financial assessments. A geophysicist by background, but also well versed in reservoir engineering, geology, risk analysis, economics and accounting.

Geoff Barker - Partner | Unconventional Gas


Geoff Barker

Geoff Barker is an oil and gas industry professional with 36 years of global experience in the upstream hydrocarbon industry and is the leader of RISC’s unconventional petroleum practice. Geoff has extensive expertise in the areas of asset valuation, development of business and corporate strategies, evaluation of gas markets, preparation of competent persons reports for IPO’s and takeover defence, due diligence assessment for M&A and project finance requirements and reserves assessment/certification of conventional and non‑conventional petroleum in over 50 countries. Geoff has developed a reputation as a keen industry observer and is a strong advocate in thought leadership. Prior to joining RISC in 1996, Geoff held senior technical and management positions in Woodside, Shell and Bridge Oil.

Geoff is the Past Chairman of the SPE WA Section, past member of the SPE International’s Oil and Gas Reserves Committee 2007-2009, co-author of the PRMS Application Document on Coal Bed Methane and is a recipient of SPE’s 2012 Southern Asia Pacific Award for Projects, Facilities and Construction. Geoff is a qualified petroleum reserve and resource evaluator (QPRRE) under ASX listing rules.


Peter Stephenson - Partner | Reservoir Engineering


Peter Stephenson
Peter is a Reservoir Engineer with 34 years’ experience in the upstream hydrocarbon industry with BP, Shell and RISC. He has extensive experience with mature and greenfield oil, gas, gas-condensate and CSG developments in the North Sea, Africa, Middle East and Australasia. Peter specialises in reservoir evaluation, field development planning, integrated project reviews and multidisciplinary team coordination and leadership.

Simon Whitaker - Partner | Facilities and Development Planning


Simon Whitaker
Simon has over 36 years of experience in the petroleum industry in UK, Egypt, South East Asia and Australia. Simon has a background in petroleum engineering including reservoir & production engineering, well evaluation and varied operational experience. Subsequent career development has involved an MBA, asset management, field development planning and implementation and commercial roles.

Geoff Salter - Partner | Reservoir Engineering


Geoff Salter
Geoff has over 37 years of global upstream experience in technical and management positions with major operators and consulting firms. Excellent technical skills, a strong ability to lead multidisciplinary teams combined with a thorough knowledge of the upstream business have led to a track record of delivering realistic assessments and added value. Geoff has extensive experience of mergers and acquisitions, independent expert roles, independent reserves/valuation reporting, development planning, and decision analysis in the Asia-Pacific region, Europe, Middle East and Africa. Geoff set up RISC’s London office in 2004 and continues to play a key role on the growth of this business.


Edwin Soetirto - Country Manager Indonesia


Edwin Soetirto
Edwin has more than 19 years’ working experience in South East Asia, mainly in Indonesia, in the oil and gas exploration, production and service industries. Prior to RISC, Edwin was the Business Development Manager for Indonesia at Petrofac. Edwin has also held senior commercial roles at Marathon International Petroleum, Hess and Premier Oil. Based in our Jakarta office, Edwin’s extensive knowledge in the areas of business development, commercial, marketing, business planning and economics will further develop and grow our business in Indonesia and South East Asia.

Stephen Newman - Principal Advisor | Geoscience


Steve has over 32 years of experience in the international oil and gas industry, which includes 17 years as an exploration and development geoscientist with BP and Woodside. Steve also has significant commercial and business experience through a four-year assignment to the Shell Global Strategy and Portfolio Team and as the Gas Supply Coordinator at Woodside. He has been at RISC for the last five years where he has worked on numerous assignments which include buy side due diligence, resource assessments, peer support, divestment support and expert witness.

Bruce Gunn - Principal Advisor | Reservoir Engineering


Bruce Gunn

Bruce has over 35 years’ experience in Australia, Southeast Asia and Holland, particularly in the assessment and reporting of hydrocarbon reserves. Bruce has undertaken various studies of a reservoir/petroleum engineering and planning nature including CSG resource assessments and valuations in Europe, India, Indonesia and Australia, unconventional oil and gas resource assessments and forecasts in Azerbaijan, Australia, Brunei, Holland, Indonesia, PNG, the Philippines and New Zealand.  Bruce’s experience includes co-ordination of multi disciplinary studied and report preparation of Exert Witness  Statements, data room attendance, peer and gate reviews and preparation of Independent Technical Specialist Reports. Bruce is a qualified petroleum reserve and resource evaluator (QPRRE) and under ASX listing rules.


 

Ian Cockerill - Head of Geoscience


Ian Cockerill
Ian has 17 years of experience as a geoscientist with a successful record of value creation through oil and gas discoveries, new venture development, and asset / corporate promotion. Ian has a background in geological and geophysical interpretation with experience in conventional and unconventional exploration and development projects in a wide range of geological settings. He has worked in technical positions for Hunt Oil and Apache and in executive positions for Transerv Energy, Verona Energy and TSV Montney.
As Managing Director of TSV Montney, Ian worked up an exploration portfolio of 60,000 acres in the Montney unconventional liquids play, British Columbia, Canada. Recently Ian was Executive Director of Transerv Energy (ASX listed) and, concurrently, worked as Managing Director of Verona Energy (Pty) identifying global new venture opportunities for a venture capitalist group and providing technical consulting services to numerous ASX publicly listed and private companies. Ian has worked on assignments in the UK, South Africa, Canada, United States, Singapore, and Australia.

Peter Dawson – Non Executive Director


Peter Dawson
Peter has 36 years’ experience in the resources sector, initially in operations and subsequently in corporate roles, including as an executive director of listed public companies and as a Partner in the Corporate Finance division of KPMG. With a background that bridges technical and commercial, Peter has a history of successfully developing and managing strong multi disciplinary teams in the execution of resource projects and resource-based M&A transactions.

John Boardman - Strategy


John Boardman
John has 47 years of international experience in the upstream oil and gas business, spent with several major companies in Europe, Middle East, Africa and SE Asia. He has a rare ability to combine strong analytical thinking with systemic and intuitive insight. This ability enables him to see business decisions from a holistic perspective, to quickly identify the principal value drivers and issues and analytically critique solutions.
