RISC Advisory supports KUFPEC in Orca Project acquisition, offshore Brazil
RISC Advisory acted as technical due diligence advisor to Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company (KUFPEC) in support of its acquisition of a 20% interest in Shell’s Orca Project, offshore Brazil.
The Orca Project
The Orca Project, previously known as Gato do Mato, is a major pre‑salt gas‑condensate development located in the Santos Basin.
With recoverable resources estimated at approximately 370 million barrels and a development concept that includes an FPSO-based production system with capacity of up to 120,000 barrels per day, the Orca Project represents one of Brazil’s most significant offshore developments.
RISC scope and specific expertise
RISC provided independent subsurface, facilities and technical insight to support KUFPEC’s evaluation of the asset. The scope of work focused on developing a clear technical understanding of the field, its development concept and key subsurface and facilities considerations relevant to the investment decision.
The RISC team’s deep‑water and FPSO experience, together with its established track record in Brazilian offshore developments, were instrumental in enabling rapid mobilisation, efficient engagement with the asset and completion of key technical deliverables.
Transaction status
The transaction is expected to complete later in 2026, subject to regulatory approvals and other conditions.
