Price Forecasting: Good Judgement or Luck?

RISC Partner and UK General Manager Gavin Ward has had an article featured in the first ever Journal of Petroleum Resources Economics (JPRE). The JPRE is the new quarterly journal of the Society of Petroleum Resources Economists (SPRE), an international organisation that is dedicated to the business side of the oil and gas industry, that is “Petroleum Economics”. The journal focuses in on the Exploration and Production facet of the industry.

Gavin’s article ‘Price Forecasting: Good Judgement or Luck?’ explores the concepts of prediction and price forecasting, analysing the reasons behind the uncertainty of which our decisions are based on and, using historical examples, relates this back to the oil and gas industry.

The purpose of the JPRE is to be an international, multi-disciplinary journal in petroleum resources economics which provides both high quality and innovative articles useful to the oil and gas and/or the financial industry. It aims to more efficiently link economics, finance and financial markets with oil and gas exploration and production to achieve better-integrated teams along the entire upstream value chain.
